Working with the Aging Brain

  • Ventura County Government Center 800 South Victoria Avenue Ventura, CA, 93009 United States (map)

Explore the differences between normal aging, dementia, and other degenerative conditions. This will include developing an understanding of the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral difficulties that can accompany dementia. We will discuss how normal aging affects decision making and reasoning, and come up with strategies to assist seniors when they are making decisions or dealing with complex situations. We will work to recognize possible dementia and the best ways to interact with those with dementia and their families. We will explore some of the stresses caregivers and families experience and how we can assist them with this. And because none of us are getting any younger, some personal health strategies to help each of us maintain a healthy brain will be offered.
