Memory’s Fade: Exploring Alzheimer’s and LATE Dementia is a 1 hour class being conducted online for the Ventura County Public Guardian’s staff.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most well-known form of dementia, but LATE (Limbic-predominant Age-related TDP-43 Encephalopathy), a newly identified form of dementia, presents similar and distinct challenges. This session explores the cognitive and behavioral symptoms, progression, treatments, and strategies for working with individuals diagnosed with these conditions. Attendees will gain insights into differentiating between Alzheimer’s and LATE and practical tools to support affected individuals.
It is part 1 of the series, The Dementia Spectrum: Understanding and Managing Diverse Types of Dementia. This is a comprehensive training series designed to empower public guardians with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of dementia care. Each one-hour session explores a specific type of dementia, delving into its symptoms, progression, and treatment options, including the unique role of medications. The series also emphasizes practical strategies for addressing behavioral and cognitive challenges, providing actionable insights to enhance the quality of care. From Alzheimer’s disease and Frontotemporal Dementia to lesser-known conditions like Huntington’s and substance use-related dementias, this series equips attendees with the expertise to confidently support those living with diverse forms of dementia.
Dr. Lande will be providing these presentations live one per month for the first half of 2025.
